UPDATES & OPPORTUNITIES FROM FACULTY ASSOCIATION FOR CALIFORNIA COMMUNITY COLLEGES (FACCC)

Upcoming Events:

California Great Teachers Seminars (GTS)

A high energy and powerful summer retreat that brings faculty together in search of the great teacher within themselves. With no experts or keynote speakers, the seminar is based on the principle that faculty are the experts in teaching and learn best from one another. Whether you teach full-time or part-time, are a veteran teacher, or are new to the profession, the seminar gives you a unique opportunity to reflect on what great teaching is all about.

San Diego, CA | June 8 - 12 [ Scholarship application DUE April 30, 2025]

Monterey, CA | August 3 - 7 [Scholarship application DUE May 10, 2025]

FACCC in collaboration with their sponsor the California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office is proud to offer 40 scholarships for new (full-and part-time faculty teaching less than five years) and all part-time faculty currently teaching in California community colleges to attend the California Great Teachers Seminars. The scholarship will cover the following: the cost of seminar registration, program materials, four-night double occupancy accommodations, and all meals.

THAT’S A GOOD QUESTION

How many evaluators are needed?

Part-time evaluations:

Evaluations are conducted in the 1st, 4th, and 7th semesters, and then every 6th semester thereafter In all but the 7th semester, the Department assigns one evaluator. The part-timer has the option of requesting a second evaluator of his/her choosing. (Dept. could then add a third evaluator.)

In the 7th semester, the Department assigns two evaluators. Evaluatee may still request one more of his/her choosing

Full-time Probationary Faculty Evaluations:

One tenured faculty member chosen by probationary faculty member (from any department) One tenured faculty member chosen by probationary faculty member’s department / sub-area One manager who is the immediate supervisor of the probationary faculty member, the VP of instruction, VP of student services, or area dean (management will assign)

Tenured Faculty Evaluations:

The Peer Review Committee (PRC) should include one tenured faculty member chosen by the department and one chosen by the evaluatee

All forms needed for evaluations are available on the UF Canvas Shell and the UF Website
