United Faculty (UF) is the faculty union representing all full-time and part-time faculty across the Contra Costa Community College District. When you join the UF, you are joining a community committed to fairness, equity and a strong faculty voice. As an independent union, UF answers only to its members, not to any national organization, allowing us to set our own priorities, respond quickly to local issues and advocate with focus and flexibility.

Recent Wins

UF has successfully negotiated and advocated for:

  • pay equity for part-time and summer semester faculty by implementing a pay-per-load system; by raising Fall and Spring pay parity to 80% which increased pay for instructional part-time faculty by 17% to 33%; by raising Summer pay parity to 75% which increased pay for all instructional summer faculty by 27.1%.
  • strong  benefits protection by maintaining a 94% District-paid health insurance for full-time faculty and by implementing a new part-time faculty healthcare program that added 94-97% District-paid health insurance for all eligible part-time faculty, even amid rising healthcare costs. 
  • new PD and evaluation support by establishing an additional $100,000 districtwide faculty professional development fund,  improving the evaluation processes, and adding new stipends for evaluation chairs.
  • strong support during district investigations by adding new language to the contract that protects faculty rights and transparency during district investigations.
  • continuing education units for CTE faculty by adding new language to the contract that allows continuing education units, that are related to the performance of a faculty member’s duties, to be counted toward salary advancement.

Dues

As an Independent collective bargaining association, Our dues are some of the lowest in California!

UF Part Time Dues Structure:

•  0.035% of my gross salary (payable to United Faculty of Contra Costa Community College)

•  .42 cents per month for the PAF (political action fund) (payable to United Faculty of Contra Costa Community College)

• $5.25 per month for FACCC EI member dues per UF/FACCC contract with no additional fees (payable to the Faculty Association of California Community Colleges Education Institute)

UF Full Time Dues Structure: 

• 0.55% per month of my regular salary (payable to United Faculty of Contra Costa Community College)

• 0.35% per month of any overload (payable to United Faculty of Contra Costa Community College)

• $ 2.50 per month UF PAC contribution (payable to United Faculty of Contra Costa Community College)

• $15.75 per month FACCC EI member dues per UF/FACCC contract with no additional fees (payable to the Faculty Association of California Community Colleges Education Institute)
