United Faculty offers a semester-long Student Internship Program each Spring, designed to introduce students to faculty union work, educational advocacy, and labor rights within the California Community College system. This hands-on opportunity allows students to work closely with UF leadership while gaining real-world experience in social justice, public policy, and higher education.
Each intern will develop a personalized advocacy project in collaboration with a UF advisor, participate in regular virtual check-ins, and engage directly with advocacy efforts, including meetings with local legislators or the UF advocacy team. Interns will also attend the Faculty Association of California Community Colleges (FACCC) Advocacy and Policy Conference in Sacramento, with all travel expenses covered by UF.
This unique program is available to two students from each Contra Costa Community College District campus—Contra Costa College (CCC), Diablo Valley College (DVC, including San Ramon), and Los Medanos College (LMC, including Brentwood). Interns receive a $500 stipend and a Certificate of Completion at the end of the Spring term.
Applications open in November and close in December for the upcoming Spring semester.
