How is my pay determined?

Faculty salaries are determined by the salary schedule outlined in the contract, based on education and years of service. Step and column placement on the salary schedule is initially determined during the hiring process and can be advanced with additional education and years of service. To advance on the salary schedule, faculty must earn additional units beyond their final initial placement, see Article 20 - Salary.

How do I request an ADA accommodation or FMLA/CFRA Leave?

Faculty can file for reasonable accommodations or leave under the ADA, FMLA, and CFRA by contacting Dan Cueva, Director of Human Resources at dcueva@4cd.edu. The appropriate forms are accessible on the district Human Resources webpage.

How do I apply for Staffing Preference Rights?

Part-time faculty become eligible for staffing preference consideration after their seventh semester of teaching within a given department (summer session does not count toward the awarding of staffing preference), see Article 25 - Part-Time Faculty Staffing Preferences.

What is a variance?

A variance is a formal request made - usually by a department - for a temporary case - specific deviation from established contract language, district policy, or academic procedure. It must be reviewed and approved by the union and/or district depending on its nature.

When do I need a variance?

Variance types:

Evaluation Committee Variance: To request for a full-time probationary faculty to serve on an evaluation committee (see guidelines)

Evaluation Committee Timeline Variance: To alter the regular schedule of an evaluation (see guidelines)

Hiring Committee Variance: To request to add or change the composition of a hiring committee (see guidelines)

Overload Variance: Overload variances are processed by District HR (see guidelines)

The variance request application for faculty evaluations and hiring committees must be submitted to the UF Executive Board (E-Board) by either the department chair or program lead. Submit variance application forms to uf@uf4cd.org.
