BEOI Class to Teach Hybrid or Online Classes

Dear Colleagues: 

Our nomination period for vacant seats on the E-board has ended and we received one verified full-time nomination from DVC. There is a new link to sign up for our annual UF/FACCC Annual Benefits & Retirement Conference, May 2, 2025, below, and we are hosting two more evaluation trainings for all 4CD faculty via Zoom on March 5th and 6th. See below for details.

OPEN SEATS ON THE UF EXECUTIVE BOARD (E-BOARD) 

The nominating period for UF E-Board positions has ended, and we received one nomination from faculty interested in a seat representing DVC on the Executive Board starting in Fall 25; therefore, this will not require a vote. We want to thank those who have shown interest in serving the faculty by committing time to the UF Executive Board. Your commitment is greatly appreciated by the UF and by all of the faculty of 4CD.

FACULTY EVALUATION TRAININGS @4CD 

Evaluators need to attend training every three years and there are a few ways to complete the training: 

In person (register in GROW@4CD); 

Synchronously on Zoom (register in GROW@4CD); or 

Asynchronously in Canvas UF Canvas shell 

If you are being evaluated, you are not required to attend training. However, many faculty find it informative and helpful, especially considering that we have recently adopted new evaluation forms.

Members can take the asynchronous Evaluation Training in our UF Canvas shell if the in person or synchronous Zoom trainings do not align with their schedules.

3.Complete the follow up quiz after watching the video (You must score 80% or higher to pass) 

If you are uncertain of how long it has been since you attended an evaluation training: Check your transcript in GROW@4CD if you attended an in person or Zoom training Check your last quiz date on Canvas if you completed the video training module

HOW TO GET HIRED IN A CALIFORNIA COMMUNITY COLLEGE WEBINAR MARCH 3, 2025 Every first Monday of the month, at 7:00pm on Zoom, 4CD will be offering a one-hour workshop for anyone interested in job opportunities at a California Community College (including pathways to promotion for current employees). UF ANNUAL BENEFITS CONFERENCE 

This conference is open to all faculty (full and part-time) and other employees of the district. Come learn about benefits for active employees and for during retirement. 

A continental breakfast will begin at 8:30am and lunch will be provided midday. Vendors will be available at tables in the morning and during lunch.

THAT’S A GOOD QUESTION 

Do I need to take the BEOI class to teach a hybrid or synchronous online class? Yes. If you have not taken the BEOI class, you are not eligible to teach a class that has any online requirement for students. This includes many hybrid and synchronous online classes. 

The next BEOI course begins March 31, 2025. Check GROW@4CD in InSite to register.
